Abstract

The second-wave feminist theory is an essential lens through which the poems of Plath can be interpreted as more or less predictive and confusing of the feminist issues. Plath has become a strong interlocutor of second-wave feminism. The present work explores the intricate connection between second-wave feminism and poetry by Sylvia Plath with the help of three of her most famous poems: I Am Vertical, Daddy, and Lady Lazarus. This analysis forges Plath as a conflict zone, where the second-wave theory came to the intersection with the boundaries of ideological appropriation, and provides a lasting perception into the convergence of gender, trauma, and creativity.
