Abstract

This research investigates how to reconstruct the orientation of the educational sociology curriculum at universities in Indonesia. The research design used is a case study with a qualitative approach. The research participants consisted of nine lecturers and 13 (thirteen) students at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Science (FKIP) Mulawarman University Samarinda. Observations and semi-structured interviews were carried out to collect data that functioned in the process of formulating the results of this research. The findings reveal three main things. The first finding reveals that the preparation of the curriculum refers to national education regulations. The second finding revealed that lecturers have the freedom to choose various teaching tools and methods but overall it is still inadequate. The third finding revealed that the follow-up model for improving the sociology of education curriculum through the dissemination, implementation, assessment and renewal stages is expected to lead to the formation and development of a new curriculum in the future. Based on the findings, it is concluded that the reconstruction of the sociological education curriculum is currently not understood and utilized optimally by both lecturers and students at FKIP Mulawarman University Samarinda. It is very important to follow up on developing a more effective curriculum to obtain greater benefits for stakeholders, especially FKIP graduates. The government and academics must increase competence to support the development of educational sociology curricula in higher education programs in Indonesia.
