Abstract

This study aims to analyze the behavior of Men who have Sex with Men (MSM) patients at the Harmoni Polyclinic of Dinoyo Community Health Center in reducing the risk of HIV/AIDS transmission. The study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation involving MSM patients, healthcare workers, peer companions, and related stakeholders. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model, including data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings indicate that MSM patients demonstrate a high level of adherence to HIV treatment programs, reflected in regular follow-up visits, timely antiretroviral (ARV) medication intake, and the adoption of safer sexual behaviors. These behaviors are influenced by strong self-motivation, self-efficacy, peer support, family support, and humanistic, stigma-free healthcare services. The role of peer companions is particularly important in providing psychosocial support, monitoring treatment adherence, and facilitating communication between patients and healthcare providers. Furthermore, integrated and patient-centered healthcare services contribute significantly to enhancing patient compliance and reducing HIV transmission risk. The study concludes that successful HIV/AIDS prevention among MSM patients is determined by the synergy between individual factors, social support systems, and adaptive healthcare services. Strengthening community-based support and maintaining inclusive healthcare services are essential strategies for achieving HIV/AIDS transmission control targets.
