Abstract

The Indian Knowledge System (IKS) represents one of the world's oldest and most comprehensive intellectual traditions, encompassing philosophy, education, science, mathematics, medicine, environmental stewardship, governance, linguistics, architecture, and ethical frameworks. In the contemporary era characterized by rapid technological advancement, globalization, and sustainability challenges, there is growing recognition of the relevance of indigenous knowledge systems in addressing complex societal and developmental issues. This study examines the evolving significance of the Indian Knowledge System within a global context by exploring its historical foundations, interdisciplinary contributions, and integration with modern scientific and technological innovations. The paper investigates the opportunities and challenges associated with incorporating traditional knowledge into contemporary education, research, policymaking, sustainable development, healthcare, and digital transformation.
