Abstract

This study examines the historical conditions that necessitated the creation of the East-West energy corridors in 1993-2003, the place and position of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the formation of this corridor. The main purpose of the article is to analyze the geopolitical situation in the South Caucasus region in the 90s of the 20th century, the geo-economic interests of global powers and regional states, the reconstruction and development of the Caspian energy resources transportation system, the determination of the route of multi-faceted pipelines, the choice of the western route for the transportation of Caspian Sea resources to world markets. As one of the factors determining the relevance of the problem is the implementation of major projects in the field of oil, economic and transport-communication within the framework of


East-West energy, political-economic integration into the Western space for the Republic of Azerbaijan and, on the other hand, new perspectives for the development of mutual relations between Turkey and the Turkic states.
