SPEECH, DIALOGUE AND REMARK IN CONTEMPORARY ARMENIAN DRAMATURGY

Abstract

This article examines the role of speech dialogue and remarks (author's remarks) in modern Armenian dramaturgy. In drama, speech goes beyond its traditional function of pure communication and becomes the main driving force of dramatic action, often replacing physical movement and narration. Based on the analysis of the plays of prominent representatives of Armenian playwrights - Norayr Adalyan, Aghasi Ayvazyan, Gurgen Khanjyan and Vahan Vardanyan, it is shown how stage speech fluctuates between prose narration and poetic rhythm. The analytical method also emphasizes the structural significance of remarks. It is shown that in the plays of the modern Armenian period, remarks are not simply technical instructions for the directors, but important epic elements that define the spatial and psychological nuances of the text. The study concludes that the combination of speech and remark in the works under study indicates a genre fusion of prose and drama and the birth of a new, unique performative textuality.
