Abstract

Objective:  To develop a specialized training program using the Peak Point device and weights for talented national handball players aged 14-16, to identify the effect of the training program on improving the height of the body mass index (BMI) during the flexion, extension, and rest phases while performing long-range shots, and to identify the effect of the training program on improving the accuracy of long-range shooting among talented national handball players aged 14-16.

Research methodology: The researchers adopted an experimental approach with a pre-test/post-test design for equivalent groups. The research population consisted of handball players from the National Talent Center. The sample comprised 18 players, randomly divided into three groups of six players each: a control group, an experimental group (the first using weights), and an experimental group (the second using weights with a Point Peak device).

Results: The results showed the superiority of the second experimental group in all biomechanical variables and shooting accuracy. This confirmed the effectiveness of combining weights with the device in improving performance compared to training with weights alone or conventional training.

Conclusions:  The standard training program contributed to maintaining performance levels and achieving limited improvement in biomechanical variables and shooting accuracy. However, this improvement did not reach statistical significance, and exercises using weights resulted in a significant improvement in the height of the body mass index (BMI) at maximum flexion, maximum extension, and rest, as well as an improvement in the accuracy of long-range shots from the jumping position among young handball players.
