Physicochemical Standardization And Lc–Ms-Based Phytochemical Profiling Of Ajeya Ghrita: A Classical Ayurvedic Formulation

Abstract
Ajeya Ghrita is a classical Ayurvedic polyherbal formulation described in Ashtanga Sangraha and Sushruta Samhita for the management of toxic conditions (Visha). The present study aimed to prepare Ajeya Ghrita according to classical Sneha Kalpana principles and scientifically standardize it through physicochemical evaluation and Liquid Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS) analysis. The formulation was prepared using authenticated raw drugs and analyzed in an AYUSH-approved laboratory. Organoleptic and physicochemical parameters demonstrated acceptable quality, stability, and microbial safety. LC-MS profiling identified several bioactive phytoconstituents, including ellagic acid, bornyl acetate, licarin A, barbatic acid, kanakugiol, trimethoxychalcone, aphidicolin, isorhamnetin 3-O-glucuronide, agrimol B, and convallotoxin. These compounds are reported to possess antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective, and cholinesterase inhibitory activities.
