The Role of Social Entrepreneurship in Advancing the Dimensions of Sustainable Development: A Case Study

Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of practicing social entrepreneurship as a tool for achieving the dimensions of sustainable development. To achieve this objective, the study first reviewed key points from the research literature on the concepts of social entrepreneurship and sustainable development. In the applied aspect, data were collected using a questionnaire administered to a sample of 40 entrepreneurs engaged in social entrepreneurship across four cities in southern Algeria.

After analyzing and interpreting the responses of the entrepreneurs and testing the study hypotheses, the results indicated that the level of social entrepreneurship practice and the level of sustainable development are high in the southern cities of Algeria. Furthermore, the study concluded that there is a statistically significant effect at a significance level of 0.05 (α ≥ 0.05) of practicing social entrepreneurship on achieving the economic, social, and environmental dimensions of sustainable development.
