PROMINENT TEACHERS OF THE WATTASID STATE (869–961 AH / 1464–1553 CE)

Abstract

This research aims to identify the prominent teachers and scholars who contributed to the educational movement in the Far Maghrib during the Wattasid era (869–961 AH / 1464–1553 CE), and to examine their role in consolidating the status of educational institutions. It seeks to highlight the key scholarly figures of this period, outlining their contributions to teaching and authorship, as well as their role in cultivating a generation of scholars and religious intellectual elites. The study concludes that teachers during the Wattasid era were a fundamental component in building a scholarly and cultural society; their efforts and intellectual output played a significant role in sustaining the scholarly movement, despite the political challenges characterizing that era.
