Abstract

The research investigates how the Islamic prohibition of extravagance (isrāf) appears in Prophetic Sunnah while it studies both legal aspects and maqāṣid-based elements which apply to modern resource management of water and energy and materials. The text demonstrates that Sunnah defines extravagance as a system problem which causes people to misuse divine gifts while creating waste and damaging public assets and disrupting economic stability and environmental systems. The research employs inductive-analytical methods to gather data about Prophetic traditions which show how to prevent waste and misuse of resources through traditional Islamic commentaries and legal interpretations. These texts are then analyzed within the framework of Islamic legal maxims and objectives (maqāṣid al-sharīʿah), and applied to modern challenges in managing water, energy, and material resources. The research demonstrates that the Prophetic ban on excessive spending creates an extensive framework which controls resource distribution through three main principles which include preventing waste and promoting enough resources and safeguarding community assets and thinking about future results. The study shows that present-day waste in water and energy and food systems violate the Islamic prohibition against excessive waste and waste. The Islamic legal system allows authorities to create consumption control systems which they can operate through official channels to boost their operational performance. The research indicates that public policy needs to work with educational institutions and religious organizations to establish a permanent resource-based system.
