Abstract

E-learning has now become one of the top priorities used to impart quality education, which is in line with the principle of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) that focuses on lifelong learning prospects, inclusive, and equitable learning. This paper discusses the contribution of communication management in the improvement of the e-learning systems. The research identifies the important aspects of communication management, such as the interaction between the instructor and the learners, collaboration between learners and the learners, and interfaces between the learners and the platform, and the technological tools to be used to mediate the interactions by reviewing available literature. It has been found that proper communication management directly relates to the engagement of learners, their satisfaction, inclusivity, and academic performance. In comparison, lack of communication results in lack of engagement and low quality of the educational process. The paper highlights the significance of formal communication methods, access, and technological advancement in the provision of equitable and quality digital education. The study offers a contribution to other educators, policymakers and platform developers to streamline the e-learning systems and thus help to achieve the global goals of SDG 4.
