Abstract

This study explores the development and implementation of a Chinese calligraphy curriculum for overseas learners through a case study of Xuanpu Academy in Thailand. The research aimed to design a structured curriculum that integrates technical calligraphy training with cultural learning and to evaluate its effectiveness in improving students’ learning outcomes. A qualitative case study approach was adopted, and data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, and classroom observations during the implementation of the course. The curriculum was organized into four modules: basic brush techniques, character structure, copying classical works, and the cultural background of calligraphy. The findings indicate that the curriculum significantly improved students’ calligraphy skills, increased their learning engagement, and enhanced their understanding of the cultural and artistic significance of Chinese calligraphy. The study also highlights the importance of structured curriculum design, interactive teaching strategies, and the integration of cultural content in overseas calligraphy education. These findings provide practical insights for teachers and educational institutions seeking to promote Chinese calligraphy learning in international contexts
